Habitat Heroes
about
(Grade 2) Our world is made up of many unique native habitats, which are places where animals and plants naturally live. Some are cold year-round while others are hot, some are rainy while others are dry, and some change throughout the year. Because of this, there’s diversity in the animals and plants that live in them, too! These activities will help students explore species from a variety of habitats in San Diego and across the globe, spanning tundra and oceans to grasslands and rainforests. Students will make observations, discover patterns, and compare wildlife in different native habitats, while being empowered to become allies for wildlife.
The guide includes two pre-visit activities, two post-visit activities, in addition to curriculum resources. It also correlates with the Next Generation Science Standards and Common Core Standards and focus topics for student visits to the San Diego Zoo.
